Here we have a 5" gauge LMS Duchess. It's unfinished and has clearly not run yet, and as you can see from the photographs, this is almost certainly the worst looking miniature steam loco we've ever had. The filler all round the cladding, the crude running boards and general roughness of the 'visible' bits is terrifying to behold! But,..... under the evil skin is a professional boiler from GB Boilers that is essentially new. The bottom end has pretty much all the right bits in mostly the right order. The tender is similarly, basically,.... mostly where it should be too.
Essentially this is full 4 cylinder a kit of doner parts from which someone can strip it all down, chuck away the horrible stuff and build a new engine from the ashes. To that end, she dosn't look like the photos any more as we've started! The boiler is now off, stripped of cladding and filler mess. The horrible running boards, cab and smoke box are also in a box ready for her new owner to decide which bin to place them in. Have a good look at the photographs, and try to see past the horror to the parts underneath. If you use your imagination, for someone with a bit of time and skill, there's a good start to an impressive loco hiding in the pictures.
